The joke of him being so unbearably annoying to the entire village, completely unmovable, and refusing to change no matter what life threw at him started off amusing but quickly became repetitive and exhausting to watch. At first, the absurdity of his stubbornness created some funny moments, but as the movie dragged on, it felt like the same gag over and over with no real development. He brought it on himself, his unwillingness to adapt or learn from anything made it hard to sympathize with him, and instead of being a charmingly frustrating character, he just became frustrating. By the end, it wasn’t even funny anymore, just tedious.
